Travel method:
Hong Kong to Shenzhen MTR subway (1 hour)
Shenzhen to Hong Kong high speed rail (15 mins)
VISA:
Mainland China needs a visa if you have a US passport. Paid $18 USD for a 5 day visa (if you have a Japanese or any other passport, there could be a visa-free transit). The wait for the immigration to Shenzhen is very long.

Smoother process than entering mainland China.
